Code of Flight
The Code of Flight governs the conduct of riders while traveling along the aerial routes maintained by the Highwind Couriers. Copies of this code are displayed in guild halls and relay aeries throughout the courier network.
I. Stewardship of the Bird
The safety and well-being of a courier bird shall always take precedence over speed or cargo.
A rider who endangers their mount through negligence shall answer before their Hallmaster.
II. Maintenance of Gear
Riders are responsible for the condition of their harness, saddle, and flight equipment.
No rider shall depart on assignment with gear known to be unsafe.
III. Conduct in the Sky
Riders shall respect established aerial routes and give right of way to those in ascent or distress.
Reckless flight that endangers another rider or bird is forbidden.
IV. Use of Relay Aeries
Relay aeries exist for the safety of all riders.
A courier in distress shall be granted shelter, aid, and rest regardless of origin or contract.
V. Messages and Cargo
Messages carried by the guild are to remain sealed and unaltered.
A rider who tampers with a dispatch entrusted to the guild commits a grave offense.
VI. Guild Solidarity
Riders encountering another courier in difficulty shall render aid where possible.
The sky is wide, but riders of the guild do not abandon their own.
