Overview

Brurogh is a rugged island realm located north of Veythra, known to mainlanders as a distant frontier of cold winds, cliffs, and stubborn warriors. To the Bruroghians themselves, however, the island is simply home, the ancestral heartland of the orcish peoples and a land shaped by centuries of clan tradition.
Despite its reputation abroad, Brurogh is far from a wilderness. Towns, fortified clanholds, and fishing villages dot the island’s shores, while inland valleys support hardy agriculture and grazing.
Throughout history several foreign powers attempted to establish colonies on the island. These efforts consistently failed in the face of unified resistance from the Bruroghian clans.

Government

Brurogh is ruled through a clan monarchy, where authority rests in both the crown and the powerful clan chiefs who govern much of the island’s territory.
The High King of Brurogh resides in the capital city of Roghakar.

Society

Bruroghian society is strongly shaped by clan identity and ancestral heritage.
Family lineage, loyalty to clan, and reputation earned through leadership or bravery remain central social values. However, contrary to mainland stereotypes, Brurogh is not dominated solely by warriors. Many clans maintain long traditions of farming, fishing, shipbuilding, and craftsmanship.
Bruroghian culture places great importance on ancestral heroes, whose names and deeds are remembered through oral histories and monuments across the island.

Economy

Brurogh’s economy is built around fishing, pastoral agriculture, and coastal industry.
The island’s rugged terrain favors sheep herding and hardy crops suited to cooler climates. Fishing fleets operate along the island’s coasts and fjords, supplying both local communities and export markets across the northern seas.
Brurogh maintains long-standing trade relationships with neighboring regions, particularly the Tengu homeland of Korvethra. This friendship dates back centuries to a time when Brurogh aided the Tengu in resisting attempts by elven powers to enslave their people.

Today trade between the two realms remains strong, involving fish, wool, timber, crafted goods, and rare materials from the icy Reach.

Culture

Bruroghian culture celebrates resilience, ancestry, and connection to the land.
Songs and sagas recount the deeds of legendary orcish heroes who defended the island against invaders and carved out settlements along its harsh coasts. These figures remain deeply embedded in Bruroghian identity, and many geographical features bear their names.
Despite the island’s reputation for martial traditions, Brurogh also possesses a rich culture of storytelling, craftsmanship, and communal feasts.
Hospitality toward travelers is valued, though outsiders who disrespect Bruroghian customs rarely receive a warm welcome.

Religion

Religion in Brurogh centers around The Way of Garrosh
Many Bruroghians believe the spirits of great ancestors remain tied to the land, watching over the clans and guiding their descendants. Burial mounds, ancient standing stones, and sacred coastal sites serve as places of remembrance and ritual.

Geography

Brurogh’s landscape is defined by dramatic coastlines, rolling highlands, and rugged northern fjords.
The eastern coast is dominated by the towering White Cliffs of Brurogh, which rise sharply above the sea and serve as one of the island’s most recognizable landmarks.
The capital city of Roghakar sits inland, accessed via the sheltered Bay of Krovhal, a natural harbor named after one of the island’s legendary ancestral heroes.
Further north the terrain grows harsher, transitioning into tundra and ancient glacial valleys. The northern coastline is carved by deep fjords that shelter small fishing settlements.
Beyond the fjords lies a chain of jagged islands known as Varrok's Teeth, stretching northward toward the larger island of Grarvek.

Neighbours

Brurogh has no direct neighbours, Korvethra is closest in proximity and diplomatic relations.
