Geography
Ialyri occupies an island away from the mainland coast. The island rises steeply from the sea, with cliffs protecting parts of its shoreline.
A sheltered harbor on the western side provides the main access to the city. Ferries, pilgrim ships, and small trading vessels regularly travel between the island and the mainland.
Government
Ialyri is governed by House Kalydros and the High Synod of the Pantheon, overseeing the city's religious life. With House Kalydros acting as the political counterpart to the Synod's spiritual leadership, enforcing doctrine, maintaining order among pilgrims and ensuring the will of the gods is reflected in the city's laws.
Economy
The city’s economy revolves around pilgrimage and religious institutions.
Important economic activities include:
- Pilgrim travel and hospitality
- Production of religious texts and icons
- Crafting of ritual objects and temple decorations
- Offerings and donations from visitors
Though not a major trading port, the steady flow of pilgrims ensures the city remains prosperous.
Culture
Religion shapes nearly every aspect of life in Ialyri. The city observes a dense calendar of festivals honoring the gods of the Palyric Pantheon, and public processions frequently move through its streets.

History
Ialyri traces its founding back to before the Palyran Age, with different sources claiming different exact years and founding myths. It is one of the oldest cities in the known world. It began as a small island sanctuary dedicated to the old gods of the Palyric Pantheon. According to legend, fishermen first discovered strange prophetic visions along the island's cliffs, where the wind and surf were said to carry divine whispers.
Over time the shrine grew into a temple-city centered around the Oracle, whose prophecies gave Ialyri religious influence far beyond its small island. Unlike the merchant cities of the Free Coast, Ialyri became a theocratic center of pilgrimage, ruled by temple authorities and sustained by the steady flow of believers seeking divine counsel.
